In recent news footage, foreigners were surprised to see what appeared to be Pride flags tied to trees in Thailand, leading to speculation about unique Pride Month celebrations. However, these are not rainbow flags, but "three-colored cloths" or "multicolored ribbons," used in Thai traditions.
These cloths serve two main purposes: to worship spirits believed to reside in the trees and to protect trees from being cut down. The most common colors used are red, yellow, and green.
